Bella and Boogie Bear are starting preschool in a couple weeks and they both need nap mats to take with them. A girlfriend of mine (Thanks, Heather!) gave me a couple websites to check out that sold nap mats and nap mat covers. I wasn't too impressed with the fabric choices either site gave me, so I headed to the store, picked up my own fabric, and went home and got sewing.
I have to admit, I impressed myself!
Okay, my sweet regular readers - do y'all recognize this butterfly and green fabric from a sewing project gone horribly wrong a few months ago?
All Bella will need is a ba-ba and her baby bear and nap time should be a piece of cake! Yeah, right!
Can you see my see super fancy overlapping fabric technique - it's like a pillow sham.
I just slipped the mat inside the case and - ta da! - Bella's go a totally cute nap mat to take to school with her. The trick is getting her to actually lay down and sleep on her mat, but that is her teacher's problem - not mine!
Against my better judgement, I let Boogie Bear pick out his fabric. We ended up compromising - he wanted a totally obnoxious Lighting McQueen pattern and I talked him into this less annoying Cars one.
The Cars fabric will be what Boogie Bear sleeps on, the red flannel will be the bottom part, and the black fleece will be his blanket!
I'm not big on character things, but Bill said it wasn't a big deal and Boogie Bear should get to pick. Whatever.
Hopefully, tomorrow . . . or before September 3 . . . I'll turn that fabric into a nap mat for Boogie Bear!

Would you like me to make your little one a nap mat, too?
Just leave me a comment and we can start the design process!
