What's the State Flower?

The Bluebonnet, Lupinus texensis, has been the much beloved State Flower of Texas since 1901. The flower named after it's beautiful hue and bonnet shaped petals, is as much apart of the Texas culture as cowboy boots and pickup trucks. Bluebonnets blanket open fields and along highways all across Texas from March to April, making it a sure sign that Spring is here!

We have made it a tradition, like many other Texas families, to take pictures of the kids with the bluebonnets each Spring. Today, after Bella and I picked up Boogie from school, we all headed to a great park in The Woodlands that has a field of bluebonnets.

Bella loved sitting among the flowers discovering each one up close, while Boogie enjoyed running all over the field seeing every nook and cranny of it!

Here are the pictures we took today . . . don't be surprised if we head out one more time to get some more pictures of my little ones with such a special part the Texas culture.

Happy Spring!

  3. What great photos! We live in Austin, but the bluebonnets weren't out when we left for Spring Break vacation last week. Hopefully, we'll be out when we get back so I can take pics of my son!

Thanks for visiting my blog. I'll be checking back for your cleaning routine progress. LOL :)
